Theme

The increasing diversity of Information & Communication Technologies and their equally diverse range of uses in personal, professional and official capacities raise challenging questions of identity in a variety of contexts. What constitutes an identity, how do new technologies affect identity, how do we manage identities in a globally networked information society?

After the success of the 2007 IFIP/FIDIS Summer School, the focus of this Summer School to be held in 2008 at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic, will be on security and privacy issues in the Internet environment, and namely aspects of Identity Management in relation to current and future technologies in a variety of contexts. FIDIS supports interdisciplinary exchange and IFIP takes a holistic approach to technology. So participants’ contributions combining technical, socio- economic, ethical, philosophical, psychological or legal perspectives on challenges for privacy and security in relation to identity aspects are welcome. Topics of interest include:

identity management, security, profiling and customer relation management, data mining, advanced identity solutions, access control, ID related crime, computer forensics, RFID, tracking technologies, biometrics, privacy, anonymity and pseudonymity, identities in social networks, surveillance, data retention, availability, legal and economic aspects of security, impact on social exclusion / digital divide / cultural issues, case studies for the use of identifiers in various application areas, trust and accountability.

The most common way to reach the Main train station is the bus (bus station Letiste Turany, line 76, from 4:35am arrives each 30 minutes until 23:35). Its price is 15 CZK in the ticket machine or in the shop - but 20 CZK if the ticket is sold by bus/tram driver (moreover, exact cash is often required by driver).

From bus station Zvonarka or Main train station (hlavni nadrazi) you can reach The Kounicova Hotel (dorms) by tram number 12 or 13. The direction for tram number 12/13 is Technologicky Park and the exit station is Nerudova or Klusackova. You can see the details how to reach hotel and the Faculty of Informatics (venue of the summer school) in the following maps (always pdf and png format): http://www.fi.muni.cz/~xkrhovj/public/SummerSchool/Maps/.
